Dr Gurpreet Kaur (w/o Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann) while felicitating the newly born girl children with Lohri gifts and wishes at Bakarpur Village here said that now it is the time to eliminate gender discrimination by promoting the Lohri Celebrations of girls.

Participating in a Lohri Function organised by MLA Derabassi Kulwant Singh Randhawa at Bakarpur, Dr Gurpreet Kaur said that the efforts of local MLA are appreciable to give a strong and positive message to the society that there is a need to give a push to such positive things and changes. She said that the daughters are excelling everywhere nowadays, be it in education,  politics or key positions.

Applauding the daughters being part of their parents in every situation, she said that the so-called gender inequality should come to an end now. Though the mindset has been changed there is a lot needed to be done.She said that the Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann is working relentlessly to make Punjab a land filled with job opportunities so that no parent misses their child migrating abroad.

MLA Derabassi Kuljit Singh Randhawa while welcoming her to the function said that to promote gender equality the Lohri Celebrations of Girl Child is the best way to start with. He said that the daughters who were blessed with extraordinary qualities have touched new heights consequently making  their parents proud.

He said that the Bhagwant Singh Mann government is also doing its best to transform Punjab into Rangla.The students from Government Senior Secondary School Rampur Sainia performed the folk dance Gidha on dhol beat.

Prominent among the others present there including Prabhjot Kaur Chairperson District Planning Committee, Dr Sandeep Garg SSP, Viraj S Tidke ADC (G), Himanshu Gupta SDM Derabasai, Darpan Ahluwalia ASP Derabassi.
