National Conference has expressed grief and sorrow over the tragic death of a youth in Mavoora, Khodwani in Kulgam district of South Kashmir in an incident of alleged firing by the Security Forces.Expressing grief and shock over the death of the youth, NC Spokesman Junaid Azim Mattu has extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul. "This is a tragedy that, as is with all such tragedies is incomprehensible and inonsolable. Words fail to express how heart-rending and sorrowful such incidents are. We demand a thorough probe into the circumstances leading to the death of the youth and also demand that responsibility should be fixed. If someone is found guilty of use of disproportionate and unwarranted force, he should be brought to the book and tried under the relevant statutes of law for murder. AFSPA cannot be invoked in a blanket-manner for all such incidents", the NC Spokesman said.

The NC Spokesman asked for the provision of ex-gratia relief to the family of the decased youth and asked the people to exercise restraint. "We understand the pain and anguish that such incidents bring with them and empathize with the locals in this moment of loss.  We appeal for peace and calm so that such absolutely tragic incidents are not repeated at any cost", the NC Spokesman said while also condemning the incident of firing in Kulgam yesterday in which three persons had received injuries. The NC Spokesman said that National Conference demands that all possible medical aid be provided to the injured victims and prayed for their speedy recovery. (GNS)
