To establish Himachal Pradesh University as an ideal educational institution of the country, there is a need to make continuous efforts to run the academic and research activities of the university in a better manner, stated Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla here today while presiding over the 34th meeting of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) Court.Recruitment to the vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff and various other issues were resolved through detailed discussion during the court meeting.

He said that this meeting should be organized at least twice a year so that the problems and needs of the university could be quickly discussed and action could be taken for the overall development and improvement of the educational institution and the students. He said that with the cooperation of competent and experienced members of the court, significant improvement and development in the programs of the university would be ensured.

Congratulating HPU for awarding A-grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Shri Shukla said that this success has been achieved due to everyone's contribution and efforts but a lot of hard work was still required. He said that tireless efforts and a positive attitude needed to bring the university into the category of renowned educational institutions of the country.

He said that the level of academic and research should be raised in all the educational institutions of the state. It is the duty of the teachers serving in educational institutions not to consider their responsibility fulfilled just by making the new generation degree holders, but it was their major responsibility to develop courage and ability in the youth to deal with contemporary challenges as well. We have to conduct our academic and research activities in such a way that today's students were able to deal with challenges like unemployment in the future, added the Governor.

Shri Shukla said that Devbhoomi Himachal was famous for its natural beauty, historical and religious tourist places, but this year the loss of life and property due to the disaster caused by excessive rains has warned the people of the state to be conscious about the environment in future. He said that there was a need for all sections of society to take timely and effective action against serious problems like increasing drug abuse, pollution and unsafe environment in the state.
