Portraying a resounding testament to unity and patriotism among the people, several programmes were held in Panchayat Blocks of Srinagar District here today to mark the 2nd Phase of “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign with Amrit Kakash Yatra , celebrating India's 75th year of Independence. The Programmes were held on the directions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad by Rural Development Department at Nayabat Office Harwan.

The event witnessed soil collection and tribute paying to brave hearts in the presence of BDC, DDC and PRI members of the District and other large number of local people.  The campaign entered the second phase with Amrit Kalash Yatra being held across the country. As a pan India outreach campaign, its aim is to touch every household of the country and collect Mitti and Rice grains from Panchayat Villages and Urban Wards. In rural regions, it will be combined at the Block level to create Block-level kalash.

Speaking on the occasion, the speakers highlighted the significance of campaigns like “Meri Mati Mera Desh” in setting the stage for enduring peace and prosperity. Pertinently, the Amrit Kalash Yatra will culminate on 30th October, 2023 in New Delhi when 7500 Amirt Kalashs collected across the country will find their resting place in Amrit Vatika, a gesture of homage to India's valiant heroes.
