Government General Zorawar Singh Memorial Degree College Reasi organized a District Level Inter-College Declamation Competition to mark the upcoming birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi Ji.The competition was organized in collaboration with the Department of Political Science, the Department of Urdu, the Department of English, the College Cultural/Literary Activities Committee and the NSS Unit of the College. Five winners of the Intra-college competitions held at GDC Pouni, Katra, Dharmari, Mahore and Reasi participated and expressed their views on the Gandhian ideas of “Truth and Non-violence”.

The function started with the presentation of a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Surita Sharma, Assistant Prof. of Dogri followed by the speeches of the participants.Later, Principal GDC Reasi Dr. Kulvinder Kour, while interacting with the participants and students encouraged them to adopt Gandhian ideas and make them a way of life to lead a peaceful life. Principal GDC Dharmari Dr. Preetpal Kour was the Guest of honor on the occasion.

Vishali Sharma of GDC Pouni secured first position in the competition and got selected for the Divisional Level Competition to be organized by the Office of the Nodal Principal at Government College of Women, Parade, Jammu on 30th September 2023.Akhter Banoo of GDC Mahore and Pallavi Sharma of GDC Reasi bagged the second and third positions.

Dr. Prem Singh, Assistant Prof. of Political Science from GDC Pouni, Dr. Saleem Ahmed, Assistant Professor of Urdu and Prof. Norin Akhter, Assistant Prof. of English judged the event. Prof. Palvinder Kumari Assistant Prof. of English presented Vote of Thanks. Other prominent persons present on the occasion include Dr. Rajinder Kumar, Akram Khan, Prof. Ajay Kumar, Rakesh Meenia, the Physical Director and Prof. Harpal Singh.
