Chairman Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Mohammad Yasin Malik was arrested in a nocturnal raid by police. According to a statement issued to KNS, to foil JKLF’s announced protest rally and sit in at Lal Chowk, Police in large numbers cordoned the residence of Yasin sahib last night and arrested him. He has been lodged at police station Kothi Bagh. Despite his arrest JKLF went continuing its program, held a protest rally after Friday prayers. Led by JKLF vice chairman advocate Bashir Ahmad Bhat , the rally was attended by various JKLF leaders ,activists and well wishers. People from many walks of life in large numbers also participated in the rally.

This rally started from Maqbool Manzil and headed towards Lal Chowk the participants of the rally carrying play cards and raising slogans in favor of freedom, martyrs and  resistance and against  Indian aggression towards Kashmiris, its decision to close down UN observers office in Delhi ,abolishing Muslim personal law and Israeli terrorism in Palestine that has taken the innocent lives of hundreds of Palestinians so far, marched towards Lal Chowk but as soon as they reached near  Budshah Chowk  were stopped by a large contingent of police and forces ,who had sealed all the routes leading to Lal Chowk. Police abruptly started cane charging the participants of the rally injuring many including JKLF secretary general Ghulam Rasool Dar Eidi etc.

prior to this Advocate Bashir Ahmad Butt while talking to media person condemned the growing aggression of Indian state towards the people of Jammu Kashmir, its decision to close down UN offices in Delhi, attempts to abolish Muslim personal law, and brutal killings of innocent Palestinians’ by Israeli terrorist forces. He said that today’s protest is to show our resistance against growing Indian arrogance, its decisions to change the nature of Kashmir issue, its attempts to abolish Muslim personal law and orders to close down the UN observers offices in Delhi. Bhat said that the decision of Indian state to close down the UN observer’s office in Delhi is actually a glaring example of its growing arrogance and fascism.

Bhat said that today India is trying to close down the office of UN observers group which was  established in this region after India that went to UN for intervention  on Jammu Kashmir . He said that UN observer’s mission offices in Delhi, Islamabad and Srinagar are important because these offices remind us that Kashmir needs a peaceful settlement. Bhat sahib said that after the establishment of BJP government in Delhi, every little space for peaceful political struggle has been choked. Arresting JKLF chairman prior to this peaceful protest is a glaring example of this. He said that youth are being targeted, arrested and humiliated and hence pushed towards wall.

Bhat said that this oppressive attitude of India and its Kashmiri stooges is actually turning the peace loving youth of Kashmir back to violence. He said that attempts are being made to abolish Muslim personal law that governs the religious life of Muslims. Condemning this arrogant approach of India, Bhat said that these kinds of acts will yield India nothing but disaster.

Condemning the brutal massacre and bombardment of Gaza by Israeli terrorists, Bhat said that these killings of innocent children, women and elders is actually the product of international community’s criminal silence and negligence which has failed to provide security to innocents and stop the brutalities of oppressive nations like Israel. He said that United Nations and other organizations like this were the institutions towards which innocents, oppressed people always looked towards, but these institutions have now become a stooge of nations and world powers. Bhat sahib said that no Muslim can remain silent on this internationally backed state terrorism of Israel. He said that today we are protesting against this international criminal mind set backing Israeli aggression .he also said that through today’s protest Kashmiris are also showing their solidarity with their Palestinian brothers and sisters.
