Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Dr. Devansh Yadav today chaired a meeting of the concerned officers of executing agencies and line departments here in his office Chamber to assess the progress of the ongoing construction of drains alongside highways in the town of Kishtwar and its adjoining areas.

Present at the meeting were ADC Kishtwar Inderjeet Singh Parihar, Tehsildar Kishtwar Muneeb Umar, CEO Municipal Council Kishtwar, ExEn R&B, ExEn PHE, Naib Tehsildar Kishtwar, AEE R&B as well as officials from NHIDCL ad GREF, among others.The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the status of the drainage construction projects being undertaken by various agencies in Kishtwar township and its surrounding regions. 

Specifically, he emphasized the work carried out by NHIDCL along the National highways from Bus stand to Sangram Bhatta area, and from Kuleed Chowk to DC office and Zellana Kishtwar along the Paddar axis.

Tehsildar Kishtwar was instructed to collaborate with the executing agencies to remove encroachments at various locations that are hindering the progress of drainage construction.The Deputy Commissioner urged for an accelerated pace of work on these drains and the installation of culverts at various crossings. 

Furthermore, he emphasized the importance of maintaining quality and speed of work, along with cleanliness, to ensure the convenience of residents and commuters, especially during the rainy season.

The Municipal Authorities and R&B authorities were directed to ensure the completion of the town's drainage works, particularly at the Mini Bus Stand. They were also instructed to work together to maintain cleanliness and promptly address any blockages that may arise.

The ExEn, PHE was tasked with resolving any leakages in the supply lines located near the drains in the town and its adjoining areas. This measure is crucial for the health and safety of consumers, as well as for conserving water resources.

Speaking in the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar emphasized the significance of the drainage system for the town's sanitation. He underscored the district administration's commitment to ensuring proper drainage infrastructure in the area.

The Deputy Commissioner also emphasized the importance of raising awareness among the public and shopkeepers regarding the illegal dumping of polythene bags in the drains, which leads to choking and blockage of the drainage system. Municipal authorities were directed to take proactive measures to curb this issue and ensure strict adherence to regulations governing waste disposal.
