In a step aimed at further imparting quality health services to people, the Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday dedicated the 35th mother and child care centre to the people within a year. Addressing the gathering after dedicating mother and child care centre here at, the Chief Minister envisioned that this newly constructed hospital at a cost of Rs 8 crore will act as a catalyst to impart quality health care to the pregnant women and newly born child.

He said that the move is aimed to ensure that people get quality health services in these hospitals. Bhagwant Mann said that so far 35 hospitals have been dedicated out of total 45 to the people in the last one year adding that more such hospitals will be constructed across the state in coming days.

The Chief Minister said that after assuming the charge of office his government has laid major thrust on power, employment, education and health sectors. He said that complete transformation has taken place in these sectors during the last one year.

Bhagwant Mann said that no stone will be left unturned for making Punjab a frontrunner state in these sectors. The Chief Minister further said that with the active support and cooperation of people, the state government has taken several pro-people initiatives.

He said that his government is providing 600 units of free electricity to the people in every cycle adding that for the first time in the state more than 88% of the households have received zero electricity bill. Bhagwant Mann asserted that this has benefitted the residents of the state in a big way by reducing the burden on their pockets.

The Chief Minister asserted that 584 Aam Aadmi Clinics are now operational in the state to offer free healthcare services to people adding he said that 75-100 more clinics will be dedicated to the people in coming days. Bhagwant Mann said that these clinics have already proved to be a cornerstone in imparting quality health services to people.

He said that equipped with state of the art infrastructure, these these clinics are providing world class treatment and diagnostic facilities to the people free of cost adding that so far 31.19 lakh patients from across the state have been benefited from these Aam Aadmi clinics which are offering around 41 type of diagnostics tests along with free medicines to people.

The Chief Minister said that the government schools of the state have been turned into harbingers of quality education and numbers of students from private schools are now taking admission in them after leaving their schools. He said that the top three positions in every result of the board are now coming from the government school which reflects the massive improvement in the field of education.

Bhagwant Mann said that the state government is felicitating the students bagging top positions with a cash award of Rs 51,000. The Chief Minister further said that in a revolutionary step 15 ‘Schools of Eminence’ will be operational in the state by August 15.

He said that equipped with ultra modern infrastructure these schools provide the best quality education to the students. Bhagwant Mann said that these schools are focusing on grooming the students for five professional and competitive courses including engineering, law, commerce, UPSC and NDA.

The Chief Minister said that the state government has given 29237 jobs to youth in the state adding that the state government is accomplishing the gigantic task of giving the jobs to youth in a phased manner. He said that transparency and merit are the two key pillars of this entire recruitment drive.

Bhagwant Mann said that a foolproof mechanism has been adopted for the entire recruitment process due to which not even a single appointment out of these more than 29000 has been challenged so far in the court. Taking the successive state governments in the state to cudgels, the Chief Minister said that these corrupt people ignored the interests of the state for their vested political interests.

He said that these politicians established their monopoly over the health, education, transport and other sectors by ruining the government institutions. Bhagwant Mann said that these leaders were so greedy that they didn’t even spare the food joints which were attracting huge crowds and tried to get a share in them too.

The Chief Minister said that these corrupt leaders did irreparable damage to the health and education sector by joining hands with the private players’ thereby causing huge loss to the general public. Likewise, he said that the Transport mafia too flexed their muscles during their tenures that also at the cost of public transport service.

However, Bhagwant Mann said that the tyrannical days of these selfish politicians are over and now every decision is being taken for the well being of the state and its people. The Chief Minister said that while these people had worked overtime for their own interests, he is working dedicatedly for the people of state.

Bhagwant Mann said that due to strenuous efforts of the state government PRTC, which was recurring huge losses during their tenures, is now heading towards being a profitable body. Likewise, he said that concerted efforts are afoot to expand operations of MILKFED thereby supporting the dairy farmers of the state.

Describing the entire opposition as a ‘coterie of rejected politicians’, the Chief Minister said that in dearth of any issue against the state government, these leaders are stooping too low by leveling personal allegations against him. He said that his government has locked their shops for looting the people so they have joined their hands to stop a common man from serving the state and its people.

Bhagwant Mann dared that the gimmicks of these politicians will not work as people are well aware of their dubious character and they had already given a befitting reply to them by ousting them in the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-poll.  The Chief Minister said that the hug between Navjot Singh Sidhu and Bikram Singh Majithia reflects the fact that they people are bereft of any ideological commitment and can join hands anytime for securing their political interests.

He said that these leaders were trounced badly by the AAP legislature Dr Jiwanjot Kaur due to which they have been now forced to hug each other. Bhagwant Mann quipped that outburst of Leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa against young MLAs reflect his frustration as throughout life he had vied for getting chairs but had not succeeded, due to which he is now not able to digest that young people that too from common families have been elected by people.

Earlier, Cabinet Ministers Dr. Balbir Singh and Anmol Gagan Mann also addressed the gathering.
