Additional DGP Armed,S M Sahai Thursday lauded the professional standards displayed by Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) of J K Police during various rescue operations carried out in the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.The reports informed KNS that ADGP said that since commencement of yatra, the MRTs have been continually performing rescue operations along the dangerous stretches of the track between Seshnag and Poshpathri ensuring safety of Yatris. “These teams have been created with the aim to carryout rescue operations in high altitudes during arduous pilgrimage to Shri Amarnath Cave”, he added.
Besides being trained in Mountaineering and high altitude rescue operations, the MRTs are proficient in trekking, hiking, improvised emergency snow clearance methods, rock climbing, river, zip wire crossing, immediate first aid operation, shifting/evacuation of sick, injured pilgrims to nearest medical aid Centers.Sahai said that presently six teams of MRTs comprising of 60 experienced and well trained mountaineers are deployed at critical points of Sheshnag, Wavbal, Poshpathri, Sangam top, Lower Holy cave and Brarimarg. Equipped with latest mountaineering equipments, the teams move every day at 4 AM from their respective locations to conduct an advance recce and convey the status of the track to Sheshnag and Panjtarni, facilitating the decision of camp directors regarding the movement of Yatries. The MRTs also share minute to minute weather information of both of the routes leading to holy cave for smooth journey of pilgrims.Sahai praised the professional standards displayed by rescue teams during the yatra and stressed upon them to perform their duties with more dedication, zeal and zest in future.
