Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema today kick started a plantation campaign in Dirba by planting a sapling on the occasion of World Environment Day. The cabinet minister said that every citizen should contribute in the target of making Punjab greener which has been set by the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

The minister said that the campaign to make the environment green and pollution free was not associated with the government only but it was also the moral duty of every student, every shopkeeper, every professional person. He said that it was also very important to save depleting underground water as future generations will have to bear the brunt of it.

On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harpal Singh Cheema along with administrative officials, political leaders and schoolgirls started a campaign to plant as many as 500 saplings in and around SDM office and Nagar Panchayat office.
