World Bicycle Day was today celebrated at Budgam with the theme “Cycle for Health” to promote Physical and Mental wellbeing through eco-friendly conveyance.Physical activity not only contributes to reducing the risk of NCDs but also has a positive effect on Mental Health, delaying the onset of dementia and promoting overall wellbeing.

100 students from different colleges and schools of the district took part in the cycle event.The event was flagged-off by Dr. Mohammad Ayoub Fateh Khan, Chief Medical Officer, Budgam from Narsar-pora main Chowk to Railway station Budgam.

Dy. Chief Medical Officer, Budgam, District Health Officer, Budgam, Principal ANMT, School, Budgam & BMO, HQ, DPMU & NCD Unit, Budgam took active participation in the event.The event was held in collaboration with District Administration and Chief education Officer, Budgam. 

The cyclists with excellence were felicitated with mementos by CMO, Budgam; 1st Prize was given to Parvaiz Ahmad, 10th class Student, Boys Hr. Sec. Budgam, Second Prize to Ikhlaq Hussain 8th Class Student Oxford School, Budgam and Third Prize to Bilal Ahamd 11th Class student, Boys Hr. Sec. School Budgam.

The CMO, Budgam emphasized on Eco friendly conveyance, health benefits of active life for reducing stress, air pollution and preventing climate change which is the greatest risk factor for changing ecology.
