Health department Anantnag in collaboration with District Youth Services and Sports (DYS&S) today organized the Cycle Race from Khanabal to Ticbagh playground Mattan to celebrate the world Bicycle Day with a theme ‘Cycle for Health’. 

Large number of students from various schools participated in the event and first, second and third position holders were felicitated by the DYS&SO and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Anantnag.

Speaking on the occasion, the CMO and DYSSO Anantnag said that the sedentary lifestyle has invited the disease and some NCD diseases which occurred in the later stages of life are nowadays found in youth because of non physical activities.

They said that the involvement of students and youth in sports activities will keep the new generation physically as well as mentally fit. Besides, they appealed to the youth to stay away from drugs and help in keeping Anantnag a drug free district.

On the occasion an oath ceremony was held with regard to Nasha Mukt Bharat.Among others, officials of health and DYS&S were present on the occasion.
