With the aim of further developing the interest in reading and writing among the people and connecting the youth with literature and education, Niti Aayog has approved the proposal to open community libraries in the Moga district.

To implement this project on a priority basis, an amount of 2 crore rupees has also been released by Niti Aayog.Giving information regarding this, Deputy Commissioner Mr. Kulwant Singh said that Moga district is included in the list of aspirational districts announced by NITI Aayog.

In the past, NITI Aayog was asked to prepare and send projects keeping the all-around development of the people in Moga district. On which the district administration had made the said proposal and sent it.

Which has been accepted by NITI Aayog and an amount of Rs. 2 crore has been released immediately for this purpose. The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration is trying to establish two good community libraries in each subdivision.

These libraries will be built in two phases. In the first phase, 1 library will be opened in each sub-division. Preference will be given to opening these libraries in government buildings, especially cooperative societies.

He said that these libraries will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology. These will house high-quality books as well as digital content. Libraries will have adequate staff, internet facilities, toilets, a reading room, a reference room, etc.

Apart from this, if someone has to prepare for the competitive examination, a special area will be reserved for them.He said that apart from NITI Aayog, the Punjab government is also opening a public library in district Moga.

For this, a place has been earmarked in the local Geeta Bhavan Mandir park. For this library, the Punjab government has reserved an amount in the regular budget. The Deputy Commissioner today held a meeting with various officials at his office and directed them to look for suitable places for setting up libraries of NITI Aayog.

He said that although the NITI Aayog has given a two-year time to establish these libraries, the district administration will try to open the libraries to the common people as soon as possible so that the maximum number of people can benefit from them.
