Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday conducted a roadshow in Halka Kartarpur in favor of Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) candidate Sushil Kumar Rinku for the Jalandhar Lok Sabha by-election and appealed to the people to make AAP's candidate win.
The Chief Minister started the road show from Jandu Singha of Kartarpur. He then went to Madara and Dhogri. During the roadshow, Chief Minister Mann addressed people at many places and said that you keep on giving chances to the Akali Dal and the Congress for 70 years, but they did nothing for you.
Just give us one more year to work. If you don't like our work, don't vote for us in 2024. On the issue of employment, Chief Minister Mann said that the previous governments used to give government jobs to the youth only once in five years.
Often the vacancies of government jobs were advertised six months before the elections. In just one year, we announced vacancies for government jobs three times and gave government jobs to about 29000 youths of Punjab. Apart from this, lakhs of job opportunities were also created in the private sector.
Apart from this, we are continuously taking big decisions in the interest of common people of Punjab and also for saving public money. Within a year, we closed nine toll plazas. This will save the money of the common people and they will use this money to fulfill their daily needs now.
For the convenience of the public and to save electricity, our government has changed the timings of government offices and schools from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm. With this decision, on the electricity bills of the government offices of Punjab we will save more than Rs 16 crore every month.
Apart from this, government employees will now also get a chance to spend more time with their families and children. On the economic condition of Punjab, he said that the Finance Minister of the previous government used to constantly say that the coffers of Punjab are empty.
We have never said the words, 'Exchequer is empty' even once within 13 months and are also providing good education, medical and other facilities to the people free of cost. He said that the government treasury was empty due to the loot and corruption of the previous governments.
Our government is working with clear intention and honesty, that's why till now there has been no such problem. Appealing to the people of Jalandhar to support the AAP candidate, the Chief Minister said that this election is not going to make any difference to the BJP and the Congress.
But the victory of 'AAP' candidate Sushil Rinku will boost our spirits, after which we will work even harder and with more dedication for the development of Punjab.
