Haryana Home and Health Minister, Mr. Anil Vij said that Millet grains (Mota Anaj) were a part of our seven thousand years old food habits and today is the time to go back to the same habit. According to experts, if we come on the food habits of Millet grains, then we will be able to get rid of many diseases and our medical bills will end. 

Sh. Vij was addressing as the Chief Guest on the occasion of “Mota Anaj Mela” organized for the first time at Arya Girls College, Ambala Cantonment today. He said that on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the whole world is celebrating this year as Millet (Mota Anaj) year. Appreciating the efforts of the college, Home Minister Anil Vij said that he is sure that the wave raised from Arya College for the promotion of Millets will go to the whole of Haryana and we will return to this food. 

Earlier, on reaching the college campus, Home Minister Anil Vij was welcomed by the college principal Anupama Arya and others. Home Minister Vij visited the food stalls made from  Millet grains and tasted it. He also released a Punjabi book written by college professor Rekha. 

Apart from BJP leaders Sanjeev Walia, Surendra Tiwari, Deepak Bhasin, Anjali Wadhawan and a large number of college students were present on this occasion.

 

Millet grains provide nutrients to the body: Home Minister Anil Vij*

 

Home Minister Anil Vij said that the coarse grains included in our old method kept us alive and saved. This grain has the potential, it provides the body with all the nutrients that a human being needs. 

It contains jowar, bajra, ragi and other items. Efforts are being made to take the world on this path and following the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, everyone will have to engage in it. In the Parliament, the Prime Minister has made a beginning by giving Millet cereals to all the MPs and Haryana CM Manohar Lal to all the MLAs in the assembly session. 

Our visionary Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi has tried to make the country capable in every field. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took it up in the UNO and got it approved to celebrate 2023 as the Year of Millets and 72 countries approved it. Today this year is being celebrated as the year of Millet grains.

 

Home Minister Anil Vij appreciated the efforts of the college

 

Home Minister Anil Vij said that today Arya Girls College has taken initiative in this direction and it is the first institution in Haryana which has tried to draw everyone's attention towards it. You have become a part of this. 

Millet grain can be produced in any condition and it also withstands the vagaries of the weather. We moved away from this and came to wheat and rice, due to which we acquired many diseases. He said that experts are telling us that if we come back to the diet of Millet grains, we can get rid of many diseases.

 

There will be no need to take iron tablets: Anil Vij

 

Home Minister Anil Vij said that we are running a campaign regarding anemia, we are distributing iron tablets all over Haryana, if you switch to Millet cereals, there will be no need for iron tablets. The standard of what nature has given us is falling day by day. 

We have drunk a lot of water, but we have to save water for the coming generations as well. Rice crops use a lot of water, so the Haryana government has decided to give subsidies to farmers who do not grow rice so that water can be saved. 

The government has also started other programs in which 75 lakes are being constructed in every district under the Amrit Sarovar Yojana. He said that in this yojana, a lake Panjokhara Sahib of Ambala Cantonment is also constructed, which he inaugurated. 

Earth could be recharged, apart from this, emphasis was also laid on water harvesting so that the water level of the earth could be increased, he added.

 

Instead of potatoes, eat ragi chips: Minister Anil Vij

 

Home Minister Anil Vij said that he was pleased that stalls of millets have been set up in Arya Girls College, there was also a stall of ragi chips and he also ate ragi chips. He tells people why he can't eat ragi chips instead of potatoes. 

Arya Girls College has tried to convey the message to the people and they express their gratitude to the college on behalf of the Union and Haryana Government. An excellent program of Millet grains has been organized in the college. 

Like this college, other schools and colleges should take inspiration from this program and organize such programs so that the use of millets is encouraged and Haryana can take a lead in this direction.

Home Minister Anil Vij said that he has affection for Arya Girls College and his elder sister was a student of this college. The Home Minister announced to give Rs 25 lakh to the college for various works and called upon the college to spend this amount on publicity campaigns for the use of millets.
