The Architecture Department won the Inter-Departmental Cultural Festival Jashan - 2023 of Guru Nanak Dev University. This festival was concluded here today in the Dasmesh Auditorium of the University with the beat of Punjabi folk dance Gidha.
A large number of Student-artists of the various Departments of the University participated in this four-day event.The School of Social Science and Department of Computer Engineering & Technology stood second and Mass Communication Department remained third in these competitions.
Ms. Jahanzeb Akhtar, I.R.S., Chief Commissioner, Income tax Department, Amritsar was the chief guest of prize distribution function. Prof. Preet Mohinder Singh Bedi, Dean Students Welfare welcomed the chief guest and others.
Ms. Akhtar, Prof. Bedi and Dr. Amandeep Singh, Director Youth Welfare awrded the trophies to the winners. On this occasion members of the University Cultural Committee, students of various departments, faculty members & officials were present.
Ms. Akhtar said that this type of festival are special to celebrate tradition, culture, and heritage with happiness and harmony and play an important role in promoting our rich cultural heritage. She said that these festivals are also explore the concept of brotherhood, national integration, communal harmony and courage amongst the students.
Mr. Puru Sahdev of Law Department was adjudged Gabru Jashan – 2023 and Ms. Snehael Goel of Architecture Department was declared Mutiar Jashan -2023. Moreover the overall category wise results are: Fine Arts - 1st Architecture Department, 2nd Comp. Engg. & Tech and 3rd Apparel & Textile Tech.; Literary – 1st Laws & Punjab School of Economics (bracketed), 2nd Architecture Department, Guru Nanak Studies and USFS (bracketed); 3rd Mass Communication and Physiotherapy (bracketed); Music – 1st Architecture; 2nd Mass Communication and 3rd Laws; Theatre - 1st Electronics Technology 2nd School of Social Science and 3rd Architecture and Dance – 1st University Business School, 2nd Architecture and 3rd Computer Engineering and Technology.
