DC Baramulla kick-starts Sanitation drive under Swachh Otsav campaign at Baramulla

A special sanitation-cum-awareness drive was today kick-started by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in presence of President, Municipal Council Baramulla Touseef Raina and other concerned officers.

The Women led Sanitation drive was organized by Municipal Council Baramulla and was carried out with a message to keep the environment neat and clean.Speaking on the occasion, the DC focused on maintaining hygiene and sanitation. 

She said the drive has been launched to reinforce the message of cleanliness amongst the public and also to avoid usage of polythene.With regard to the women-led sanitation drive, Dr Sehrish Asgar said that this step will help in encouraging everyone to keep their surroundings clean and well maintained in line with the spirit of ‘Swacch Otsav’.

Meanwhile, Executive Officers of Municipalities were directed to conduct sanitation drives in double shifts to ensure proper cleanliness in all areas.President, Municipal Council Baramulla while speaking on the occasion said that the objective of the drive is to promote cleanliness across all vulnerable locations in the district. 

He further asserted that the motive of the drive apart from cleanliness is also to encourage people to avoid use of non-bio degradable plastic material.
