The District Administration organised a special governance camp for displaced persons from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) at Adarsh Colony. The camp was presided over by District Development Council Chairperson, Lal Chand.

Additional District Development Commissioner, Ghan Shyam Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Syed Khan and other district officers were also in attendance, along with displaced persons from POJK. 

Seventeen departments set up stalls at the camp and more than 250 individual beneficiaries registered to avail themselves of various government schemes. The special governance camp was well-attended by displaced persons from POJK hailing from different areas of Udhampur town. 

In his address, Chairperson Lal Chand informed attendees that the LG’s Special Grievance Camp aimed to address issues faced by those displaced from POJK and create awareness about various government schemes while providing necessary support and assistance.

Lal Chand interacted with district officers and beneficiaries to review the implementation of schemes on the ground and gather feedback. He stated that the Special Governance Camp is an important initiative aimed at ensuring saturation of all services to POJK displaced persons. 

He encouraged them to come forward and avail themselves of the benefits offered by various government schemes and programs. Various government departments including Agriculture, Horticulture, Sports, Health, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Lead Bank, Social Welfare, Education, Labour, Handicrafts and Handlooms set up awareness stalls at the special governance camp. 

Other departments present included Transport, EDI (Entrepreneurship Development Institute), RDD (Rural Development Department), ITI (Industrial Training Institute), District Employment and Counselling Centre and DIC (District Industries Centre).

District Development Council Chairperson, Lal Chand toured the stalls to gather information about welfare and other schemes being disseminated by various departments.
