The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired the Block Diwas programme at Panchayat Halqa Arigam in Block Khansahab.
On the occasion, DDC Members from Parnewa and Khansahab, BDC Arigam, PRIs, respected elders and local youth delegations from villages Arigam, Frestawar, Kaitch, Nadipora, Bugroo and other adjacent villages raised their demands with the DC.
The DC gave them patients hearing and assured all their genuine demands shall be addressed on priority. On the occasion, the DC also took assessment of road development, drainage network and facilities related to drinking water, health, Sheep and Animal husbandry, Agriculture and other allied sectors being provided to locals by concerned offices.
He directed concerned to expedite work on all ongoing development projects and early execution of work on projects including Arigam- Husgund road project and Shalinar bridge project to provide better connectivity to locals.
Emphasising on providing potable water supply to every household, the DC instructed concerned to complete pipeline and other pending works of newly Sand Filtration Plant Arigam within a month’s time for public convenience.
At the outset, the DC said that besides overall development of people, self-employment and cleanliness are among top priorities for District Administration in Budgam.
In order to ensure better public service delivery, the DC said that a joint awareness camp shall be conducted at Arigam village on March- 12, for generation of awareness about different schemes among locals and distribution of seed varieties among local farmers.
He urged local unemployed youth to register under different self- employment to open their own business ventures and become successful entrepreneurs. Emphasizing on providing better transport facility ARTO Budgam was instructed to ensure smooth operation of cab service on Khansaheb- Frestawar route.
To ensure better sports facilities to youth, the DC stressed that pending development work on the playground be expedited for its timely completion.
Appealing locals to play an active role in curbing the drug menace from the society for a better society and safeguarding the young generation, the DC urged elders and parents to ensure tight vigil that their wards remain away from drugs or any other social evil activity.
Among others, SDM Khansahab, Syed Ahmad Kataria, CEO, Xen R&B, ARTO, BDO, Tehsildar, DSHO and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
