The Vigilance Bureau, Punjab (VB) has today caught a District Manager (DM), PUNSUP deputed at Sri Muktsar Sahib red-handed with the bribe money of Rs.50,000.Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the VB said that the complainant Mr. Harpreet Sharma, Inspector, PUNSUP has alleged that the DM Yashpal Sharma was demanding commission of Rs.60,000 from him for the purchase of empty jute bags.
Acting on the tip of complainant, a trap was laid by the team of Vigilance Bureau, Flying Squad-1, Mohali headed by SP Mr. Hargobind Singh and arrested accused DM red handed, while accepting bribe of Rs.50,000 from the complainant. He said that after the recovery of bribe money, a case under section 7 and 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 was registered against the accused at Vigilance Police Station, Flying Squad-1, Mohali.
