With an aim to ensure the safety of students, Deputy commissioner Mr. Vishesh Sarangal has ordered the District Road Safety Committee to ensure the implementation of “safe school vehicle scheme “ in letter and spirit.

Presiding over the meeting of Road safety committee of Kapurthala along with SSP Mr. Rajpal Singh here today, Deputy commissioner directed all the SDMs alongwith DSPs and officials from education department to check the fitness certificate of school buses and impound the vehicles not meeting the set standards of transportation.

He said that the security of children was the top priority and administration would take stern action against those compromising it.He also asked the officials to ensure the SOPs to be implemented under “safe school vehicle scheme “ which  have provisions like first aid kits, female attendant in buses etc.

Taking serious note of illegal encroachment on the foot paths in the city , Deputy Commissioner asked the Municipal corporations/Municipal Councils and PWD to ensure the smooth traffic in the cities besides submitting a forthrightly action taken report against illegal occupants.

Mr. Sarangal also asked the education department and traffic cell to organise camps in educational institutions to aware the students about road safety measures.Meanwhile , SSP Mr. Rajpal Singh said that the putting the life of school students in risk by using vehicles not meeting the safety standards is a crime under Juvenile act which would be dealt strictly.

Prominent amongst others ADC General Mr Sagar Setia , SDM Lal Vishwash Bains and members of Road Safety Committee were also present in the meeting.
