District Road safety Committee meet held at Reasi

Deputy Commissioner Reasi Babila Rakwal today convened a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee to review the implementation of the Road Safety plan. 

CMO, Ravinder Singh; XENs PWD and PMGSY, Reasi, Katra, DIO Rajinder Digra; ARTO Rajesh Gupta, Dy. SP Neeraj Padyar and district officers of line departments attended the meeting.

Threadbare discussions were held on enforcement of traffic rules, Identification of black spots, conducting of road safety audits, Establishment of trauma care centres, Minimising road accidents, Maintenance of roads, check on overloading, setting up of Traffic Management System, traffic decongestion measures specifically on busy routes, installation of signages etc.

The DC said that after identification of black spots the concerned departments have been asked to take remedial action. Executive Engineers PWD and PMGSY were directed to ensure regular maintenance of the roads to avoid road accidents.

The Traffic and Police department was asked to regulate traffic & reduce traffic jams and keep check on overloading with the help of local police for the convenience of the general public. 

The DC asked the concerned to conduct an audit of the road safety on quarterly basis and hold regular meetings and organize awareness camps in this regard, executing agencies were directed to prepare a comprehensive Road Action plan and to submit the same at the earliest.

DC emphasised on implementation of IRAD, decongestion on important public places, removal of debris from all important roads to avoid any untoward incident.

The Chief Education Officer was directed to organize an awareness programme on road safety measures in the schools and other institutions.
