Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar held a meeting today at Municipar Bhawan, Sector-35 Chandigarh with the representatives of Safai Sewak and Municipal Work Unions regarding their demands.
The meeting was held in the presence of Director, Local Government, Deputy Director, Local Government and Deputy Controller, Local Government.Giving information in this regard, Local Government Minister Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that maintaining cleanliness in the state is an important task, In which Safai Sewak/sewermen working under urban local bodies are playing an important role.
As a result of this, Punjab State has come fifth Position in India in the Swachh sarvekshan. The representative of the unions assured that all possible efforts will be made to bring Punjab State to the first Position in the future 'Swachh Sarvey Comparing'.
The various demands of the unions were discussed in detail in the meeting and after hearing the representatives of the unions, the Minister assured that whatever their legitimate demands would be resolved at the level of the local government department.
Appropriate action will be taken as soon as possible regarding those demands. He also said that strict instructions will be given to implement the decisions taken by the local government department in the urban local bodies.
Minister further said that the demands which are related to the policy matter require coordination with other departments. Therefore, to make a decision regarding those demands, contact will be established with the relevant departments on a priority basis.
