As a part of  Republic Day Celebrations 2023 and under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav,  Deputy Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav- on Thursday inaugurated twin facilities of Kishtwar Reading Hub (24×7 Library) here in the Govt Girls Higher secondary school  and Patients Sarai in the District Hospital.

At GHSS (Girls), the Deputy Commissioner, in presence of Chief Education Officer, Sudarshan Kumar Sharma, Principal GGHSS, Suneeta Sharma, Staff members and students, inaugurated the first of its kind, 24×7 Library by the name Kishtwar Reading Hub. 

The facility has been equipped with  state of art facilities including books, e-Library, WiFi facility with free membership for AAY students. Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the long pending demand of students for a 24 hr open library has  been met.

He stressed on using Kishtwar Reading hub for career guidance and mentorship sessions, for which a team of officers/specialists will be constituted by next week. 

The DC said that this library would provide a rich learning environment to all the seekers of knowledge and facilities like these would bring the people back to libraries, adding that a large number of books are available in the library with the latest collection which are arranged, systematically language wise and subject wise. 

He called upon the people in general and youth in particular to avail benefits of these facilities & utilise e-learning available through BYJUs platform. Later, the DC visited District Hospital, where he inaugurated a Patients’ Sarai in the presence of Chief Medical Officer, Dr Chander Parkash, Medical Superintendent, Dr Javida Qazi and other staff members.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Devansh said that this public facility will serve the needy and poor patients and their attendants at an affordable rate of Rs.50 per night (free for children below 10 years age).

Interacting with the staff and management of the Hospital, the Deputy Commissioner said that special focus needs to be laid on providing best healthcare and allied facilities to patients who come to the hospital from far flung areas.

He said that in the next 10 days Sarai will expand to become a 60 bedded facility where relatives of patients coming from far flung areas can stay.
