Ministry of External Affairs & LPU organized Public Health & Community Care course for 14 countries’ officials

Lovely Professional University (LPU) in collaboration with Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Division of Ministry of External Affairs (Government of India), organized a fourteen-day specialized training course in “Public health & community care”. Commenced from 10th of January, the programme continued till 23rd January 2023 at LPU Campus.

For this, nine groups of candidates were at LPU for the training programme of community development. Nearly 30 candidates from 14 partner countries including Botswana, Tajikistan, Iraq, Laos, Tanzania, Sudan, Sri Lanka, Mali, Niger, Mongolia, Kenya, South Sudan, Ethiopia, and Guatemala participated. 

Participants were top officials from the Ministry of Health, Public Health Care Centres, Universities and allied sectors. As per LPU’s instructional strategy, the whole program was practical in shape and workshop based. It was at first a discussion on the concept, and then about its implementation.

Participants were briefed about measurement of health & disease; acute and chronic diseases; epidemiology; communicable & non-communicable diseases; respiratory infections; bio waste management; smoking cessation strategies; health care mobile apps; alcohol dependence syndrome and management; lifestyle diseases; nutrition; cancer, diabetes, obesity, strokes; drug de-addiction and various supportive therapies. 

They were also taken to different hospitals, herbal gardens, animal houses, and agricultural fields. The training course was designed to enhance the understanding of the participants.The ITEC Programme is a bilateral programme of assistance of the Government of India. 

It is believed necessary to establish relations of mutual concern and inter-dependence based on commonly held ideals and aspirations, as well as solid economic foundations.Vice President of LPU & ITEC Director at the University, Dr Aman Mittal informed that LPU keeps on training thousands of foreign nationals on various long term and short-term programs. 

Till date LPU has undertaken various offline/online ITEC Programmes. Dr Mittal also expressed his happiness on the positive outcome of the programme. He shared that all of the participants learnt to their maximum. He also advised all participants to understand, learn, implement and develop the community as per the needs in their respective country & society.

One of the participants Ms Florence Wangechi Kamau from Government of Kenya’s Ministry of Health shared that the program covered various important aspects of the health system needed for caring properly the citizens of a country.

In fact, under ITEC related programmes, 161 countries in Asia, Africa, East Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean, Pacific and Small Island countries are invited to share in the Indian developmental experience acquired over seven decades as a free nation. These programmes have generated immense goodwill and substantive cooperation among the developing countries.
