The Department of Handicrafts & Handloom, Bandipora on Thursday organized an Exhibition cum Awareness programme at Govt. Girls Middle School Aragam. A large number of Artisans, Weavers and Industrial Cooperatives participated in the programme.

The programme was presided over by Handcrafts Training Officer Naseer Ahmad and was attended by PRI Members, Mohammaf Ibrahim Gilloo, AHTO, Gulzar Ahmad Hajam, Auditor/ Supervisor INDUSCOS Bandipora, Shaikh Shahid & Mushtaq Akbar, Craft Instructors along with other staff members.

The officers apprised the participants about various welfare schemes. They were made aware about Cooperativization, availability of design facility from School of Designs Srinagar, benefits of newly launched Credit Card Scheme of Rs 2 lacs having 7% Interest Subsidy available for 5 years from the date of disbursement etc.

The primary objective of the event was to make local artisans and weavers aware of the schemes and services available for them to boost their livelihood. 

On the occasion, Artisan Fraternity was appealed to come forward and get themselves registered with Directorate of Handicrafts & Handloom so that the benefits available are availed by them without any difficulty and for their hand holding to stand on their own.
