Madan Mohan Mittal, Health & Family Welfare Minister, Punjab here today interacted and reviewed a batch of ongoing Induction Training for recently recruited Medical Officers in the State at the State Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Mohali. Speaking on the occasion, he exhorted & encouraged the Medical Officers to provide excellent health care services to the public of Punjab. During a brief & effective program, he assured these doctors of co-operation & support from the department at all times & in return expected the doctors to be prepared to provide quality health services to the public.  

The Health Minister also appreciated the efforts of Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) to conduct these recruitments in a record time & assured the doctors that transfers would be done in a transparent manner by displaying the vacancy position. He also asked doctors to remain present for duty during prescribed duty hours to ensure their availability to the public and at the same time also warned that “ there is no discount for those who do not work properly” 

 On this occasion 21 Counsellors/Medical (Psychiatric) Social Workers were also given letters of appointment by the Health Minister. These Counsellors after their training at PGI would provide services at designated deaddiction centres in the districts to reduce the menace of drug addiction in Punjab.Also present on the occasion were the Principal Secretary Health & Family Welfare, Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Mission Director NRHM, Sh. Hussan Lal & Director Health Services, Dr. Ashok Nayyar, who also motivated the Medical Officers to provide good health care services.

Mrs. Vini Mahajan, Principal Secretary Health & Family welfare said, ‘’there is a commitment by the Chief Minister & the Government to provide quality Health Services." & also asked the doctors, "to deal with the poor patients with love, understanding & care.”While welcoming the Chief Guest, the Principal of State Institute of Health & Family Welfare, Dr. Jatinder Kaur, mentioned that these newly recruited doctors are imparted 12 weeks Induction Training prior to joining their duty so that they are enabled to execute their duties efficiently & effectively. The conceptualization, planning & execution of these batches of 12 weeks Induction Training successfully has especially been done by the Health Department. During the Induction Training various subject experts impart training effectively to these doctors.Besides Induction Trainings, many other trainings are also conducted at SIHFW, in which employees from different categories participate & arrangements for their comfortable stay are also made at the State Institute's hostel facility.Last year 2253 employees were imparted training & so far during this year, 402 Medical Officers & 469 Staff Nurses have been imparted Induction Training successfully.
