Deputy Commissioner, Ramban Mussarat Islam today flagged off Aapda Mitra volunteers from various Government schools of the district for a 12 day training programme under Disaster response at Central Training Institute Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Harbans Lal Sharma; ACR, Giasul-Haq; Dy.DEO, Lal Chand; Chief Education Office,  Dev Anand; Tehsildar Ramban, Rafiq Ahmed and other senior officers were present on the occasion.

While interacting with the participants, the DC impressed upon them to engage with full interest in the training being conducted under disaster management. He said during the 12 day training programme, the group of 33 volunteers of Aapda Mitras shall be trained in rescue operation, first aid and utilization of available resources at the place of disaster.

The DC said that the main objective of the training was to train volunteers in disaster management so that their services could be utilized during any eventuality (natural or human made) including earthquake, floods, fires and accidents etc. as the first responders.

“More such  training programmes will be organized in near future to train and sensitize the  volunteers and for the benefit of people in real time,” he added.
