To take stock of the public distribution system, Deputy commissioner Poonch, Inder Jeet today inspected the fair price shop in ward no 17 Poonch Haveli, Kanuyian, Chandak and Dingla.
Assistant Director FCS and CA Poonch, Ranjeet Singh and officials of the FCS and CA department Poonch accompanied the worthy Deputy Commissioner Poonch. The DC visited the FPS to confirm that it was operating properly and that the dealer is delivering the food grains by adhering to all prescribed standards.
The visit was conducted to mark the commencement of Sushasan Saptah (Good Governance Week)being held across UT from December 19 to December 25, 2022 under auspices of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav and in consonance to the initiative of Department of Food and Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, New Delhi to asses the working of food distribution system through senior officers from the state and union government and significantly increase the visibility of FPs and sensitize senior officials about the ground level realities of PDS operations as well as gaining the holistic understanding.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner checked the FPS functioning and its conformity with the prescribed norms for the delivery of food grains, under the public distribution system.
He also checked the available and required infrastructure, quality controls measures adopted by the FPS, beneficiary experience with the FPS, type of service delivery at FPS, and transparency as well as grievances redressal mechanism implemented on the ground level.
The DC also enquired about the ration distribution process while interacting with beneficiaries at the Fair price shop. The beneficiaries informed the DC that they are receiving the ration as per the fixed rate and under various departmental schemes such as NFSA and PMGKAY.
The DC instructed the departmental officers to distribute the ration well in time and display sign board of fair price shop properly.
