A one day training programme on Registration of Births and Deaths through CRS portal was today held for functionaries of Udhampur and Reasi District here under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Krittika Jyotsna.

The training was organised by Planning Development and Monitoring Department, J&K District Registrar/ Additional Registrar of  Births and Deaths Udhampur,  in collaboration with District Administration Udhampur, Directorate of Economics & Statistics, J&K and Directorate of Census operations J&K.   

The training programme was attended by Assistant Commissioner Development, Ranjeet Kotwal; District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Darshan Kumar; District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Reasi Ashok Kumar; BDOs, BMOs and other concerned officers.

At the outset, Chief Medical Officer, Dr Vijay Basnotra, who is also the District Registrar of Births & Deaths, welcomed all the participants. During the training programme, Resource persons from Census Department, Manmeet Singh Loomba, ADCO and Himanshu Koul, SIG -II gave a detailed powerpoint presentation on Civil Registration System (CRS). 

They briefed the participants about the duties and responsibilities of functionaries involved in the Civil Registration System with special focus on the role of local registrars for the issuance of Birth and Death Certificates in the areas falling within their jurisdiction.

They urged the registrars BDOs & EOs to put in dedicated efforts for the implementation of Civil Registration System in letter and spirit in their respective areas.
