KVK–Gurez organizes two days Training programme on ‘Natural Farming’

The Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Gurez, SKUAST-Kashmir organized a two days training programme on ‘Natural Farming’ at Dak Bungalow, Dawar Gurez. The Programme was inaugurated by Sub-divisional Magistrate (SDM) Gurez, Dr. Mudasir Ahmad Wani in presence of DDC member Gurez, Taslima Begum. 

Speaking on the occasion, SDM said that the KVK can prove a game changer for the people living in this remote himalayan region. He stressed upon the creation of more FPOs in the valley of Gurez for better marketing of Agricultural produce and emphasised on streamlining existing organic farming system by way of certification of organic produce which in turn would lead to increase in market value of farmers’ produce. 

 Speaking about the topic “Up scaling of Natural Farming”, SDM highlighted the importance and essence of Natural Farming in the present day agriculture and appealed to the people of Gurez to follow the principles and practices of Natural farming in their routine farming practices. 

The DDC member Gurez Taslima Begum while speaking on the occasion thanked the authorities of SKUAST-Kashmir for establishment of a separate Krishi Vigyan Kendra for Gurez Valley. The participants of the training programme included Progressive farmers, Krishi Sakhis, Pashu Sakhis and Panchayat members from various villages of the valley. 

During the programme, extension literature developed in urdu language on natural farming was distributed amongst the participants. The technical sessions on Natural farming were run by the experts from KVK-Gurez whereby apart from lectures, interaction between participants and experts was also held.
