CGC students excel in the Chandigarh State Powerlifting Championship

Three students from CGC Landran namely Ishan Garg, Deepak and Rohan Das Gupta have brought laurels to the institution by winning top spots in the recently concluded Chandigarh State Powerlifting Championship. Ishaan, a student of IT engineering, bagged gold in the 83 Kgs weight category lifting a total weight of 525 Kgs in squat, bench press and dead lift. 

Deepak, pursuing Pharm.D, from CGC Landran, won the silver medal in the 74 Kg weight category. He lifted a total weight of 482.5 Kgs. Rohan, studying B.Com, lifted a total weight of 372.5 Kgs, in the 59 Kgs weight category claiming the silver medal. 

It is worth noting that all three students also claimed a gold medal each, in the IKGPTU Inter College Weightlifting, Powerlifting and Best Physique tournament held during the month of October 2022. Expressing their happiness the students said that they would now be focusing on preparing for the national level powerlifting competition being organised next year by Powerlifting India. 

Ishan highlighted the role that CGC played in shaping his career as a power lifter by proving apt opportunities to train and participate in championships. “I hope to make my college’s name shine through my medal hauls in the upcoming tournaments”, he added.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC Landran congratulated the students on their achievement and wished them good luck for future tournaments.
