The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today asked Punjab Congress President Partap Singh Bajwa to explain his own actions to the public rather than taking the support of a hardcore criminal to target Revenue minister Bikram Singh Majithia. In a statement here, SAD general secretary Maheshinder Singh Grewal said before targeting anyone Mr Partap Bajwa should explain his own actions to the people. " You are a master of inventing lies but have you ever explained to the people of Punjab why you overtook shamlat land belonging to villagers in the periphery of Chandigarh. Have you ever conclusively explained your role in the bitumen scam or even the well reported Gujarat call girl racket scam?"
Speaking about Mr Bajwa's statement today, the akali leader said it was bizarre that the Punjab Congress President was questioning the unequivocal statement of Deputy chief minister that there was not an iota of any proof of any wrong doing against Mr Majithia and not telling the people that he was rebuffed by the honorable Punjab and Haryana high court on this issue. "Is it not a fact that you approached the high court in a bid to include Mr Majithia's name in an ongoing case on the drugs issue and the court asked you not to politicise the matter", he added.
Grewal also asked the PCC chief to explain how he could be so two faced on this issue. " Despite knowing you have not even a shred of evidence against Mr Majithia and have even being rebuffed by the court you continue to harp about the allegations made by a hard core criminal - Jagdish Bhola". He said even while referring to the allegations made by Bhola, the PCC president never talked about how a clean chit was given to Bhola during his stint as minister in the Congress government in a case registered against the drug smuggler during the earlier SAD- BJP rule.
Speaking about the State government's stand on drugs, the Akali leader said the Deputy CM had already made it clear that no one would be spared however big he may be. "This is in stark contrast to the stand of the previous Congress government when people like Bhola were given shelter and even kept away from the ambit of the law. The recoveries of drugs during Congress rule as compared to the manifold increase of recoveries as well as those arrested including more than 20,000 drug peddlers and dismissal of 24 police officials speaks about Sardar Sukhbir Singh Badal's resolve to end drug smuggling", he added.
