The 4th Narco Coordination (NCORD) meeting reviewed the effectiveness of the measures taken for eradication of Drug menace and Drug Trafficking in the Reasi District.   The meeting was presided over by District Magistrate Reasi Babila Rakwal and convened by SSP Reasi Amit Gupta.

At the outset, SSP Reasi presented a resume about the extent of drug abuse and various measures taken by police to curb this menace. He informed that special helpline No 9070907017 is circulated for collection of information of Drug peddlers and victims and special teams have been constituted at police station level. 

Till date no Organized network has been detected and drug trafficking is under control in the district.The DM directed the concerned to make effective endeavors   to involve the public in the information sharing process without disclosing the identity of the informer.

She asked for displaying the helpline Number in schools, colleges, Anganwadi centers and Panchayat Ghars to encourage the public to act as the WhistleBlowers against the perpetrators of drug trade and The checking at inter district nakas must be enhanced to prevent the entry of drug peddlers in the district. 

She asked for regular checking of passenger vehicles and pony walas in the vulnerable areas.The Chief Education Officer was directed to make parents aware about the menace in Parents-Teachers meets and furnish the monthly details of the awareness programs conducted in schools.

SDMs Excise and taxation officer Udhampur Reasi range and chief Agriculture officer Reasi were directed to conduct an extensive survey of the district and destroy the cultivation of cannabis and poppy wherever it is found.

Action taken reports on the decisions of the previous meeting were sought from all the concerned. The DM laid special emphasis on regular awareness programmes in School, Colleges, among Senior citizens and public at large.

The public should be made aware about the legal consequences of drug peddling.She stressed that drug victims should not be treated as criminals and efforts must be made for their Counseling , while the drug peddlers shall be strictly dealt with under NDPS Act.

The CMO was directed to make the De-addiction centre fully functional at district Hospital Reasi.The Drug inspector was directed to furnish the details of the medical shops in the district and ensure that no H1 drugs are sold without prescription of the doctor.

He was directed to seal the unregistered medical shops and furnish action taken report in the next meeting.The meeting was attended by the Additional District Magistrate Reasi and all other members of the District Level NCORD Committee.
