The District Administration Anantnag in collaboration with Tribal Affairs department today celebrated ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ at Dakbanglow Khanabal, here. Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom; DDC Chairman, M.Y. Gorsi; DDC members, BDC chairpersons, CEO Anantnag, lecturers, ZEOs and students were present on the occasion.
Speakers from the Tribal Community highlighted the contribution of the freedom fighter, Birsa Munda in National Freedom struggle besides his contribution for projecting the demands and issues of the tribal community and his contribution for the upliftment of the said community.
Literary contributions of the great leaders and important personalities of the tribal community were also highlighted by the representatives and students of various institutes. A cultural program was also organized by the students on the occasion.
Warden Gujar hostel said that the students of tribal community are well equipped to succeed and have proven their ability in the competitive exams. He apprised the audience about the culture, habitation, living status and cultural traits of the tribal community and said that the aim of this programme is to make the tribal community proud and to create awareness about the contributions and achievements of the tribal leaders.
Religious leader, Haji Mian Mumtaz Ali Khatana elaborately discussed the religious, literary, administrative, political and linguistic contribution of the said community and advocated for access to education, economic resources etc to the tribal community besides preservation of the said cultural community.
Deputy Commissioner, Dr Basharat Qayoom said that various schemes are in vogue for upliftment of the tribal community and said district administration is committed to provide basic facilities particularly education to the said community.
He stressed upon the students to excel in every field. He advised that education is the main tool for the upliftment of the community and encouraged the students to work hard to be the force driving the development of this great nation.
