Fisheries Dept holds draw of lots for selection of beneficiaries at Bandipora

The Fisheries Department Bandipora Saturday held a draw of lots event in presence of all members of District Level Committee at mini secretariat, here for selection of beneficiaries to be provided financial assistance for establishment of trout and carp ponds.

Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Bandipora, Ali Afsar Khan presided over the function.The function was attended by Assistant Director Fisheries, Showkat Ahmad Bhat; Officers and officials from Fisheries, beneficiaries and other concerned. 

The ADDC directed the concerned to expand the network of ponds and to cover maximum unemployed youth to implement the scheme on ground level for maximum benefit of Government sponsored schemes.

AD Fisheries Showkat Ahmad Bhat said that a total of 31 applications were received for establishing trout ponds and 13 applications were received for establishing carp ponds. He informed that out of 31 received applications for trout ponds 19 sites were found feasible and out of 13 received applications for carp ponds 11 sites were found feasible after survey. 

The AD informed that unit cost for Trout rearing unit is 5.50 lacs and for carp unit is 1.86 lacs for which 60% is Beneficiary ratio and 40% is Government ratio. It was informed that 14 beneficiaries were selected for establishment of trout and and 06 beneficiaries were selected for Carp ponds under Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojna (PMMSY).
