The Department Food Safety (DFCO) Kishtwar today conducted a series of awareness activities on Food and its impact on health to mark the observance of  National Cancer Awareness Day 2022.The team of the Enforcement officers led by Assistant Commissioner, Food Safety, Drugs & Food Control Organization, Taraq Ahmed Butt visited Kishtwar town markets and educated the Food Business Operators to desist from using Cancer causing additives, unpermitted colours ,toxic chemicals, toxic metals, extra baking powder, avoid use of monosodium Gluconate, repeated overused toxic fried oils, substandard deteriorated food items, Urea in milk etc.

The Enforcement Officers visited shop to shop to spread awareness & promote Eat Right Challenge 2  and impart education to people  regarding cancer causing adulterants. The team highlighted the importance of Day for educating the people about the serious risk of Cancer.

Six different places including Entry point of Kishtwar, Bus Stand, Shaheedi chowk ,four corners of Chowgan and DC office  premises have been identified by the Department for installation of Big Hoardings with an aim to give an impetus to awareness about deadly Cancer disease.

The condition of people dying of cancer is a serious concern & threat to the Society, they said and explained the risk of developing  Oral cancer, lung cancer due to smoking and Chewing Tobacco.During the day-long market visit, the team of Enforcement Officers also recovered  fine  from five violators under section 4 of COTPA.
