The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Doifode Sagar Dattatray today morning flagged-off “Run for Unity" at Government Higher Secondary School, Kupwara.SSP Kupwara,  Yougal Manhas; Principal HSS Kupwara, DSP Hqr, DYS&SO, Officers/officials from Administration and Youth Services and Sports department were present at the occasion,  besides a large number of students representing various educational institutions of the district participated in the event.

The district level ‘Run for Unity’ went through by-pass road Kupwara Town and culminated at DPL Kupwara and was jointly organised by the Department of Youth Services & Sports and Police.Addressing the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of the concept behind the 'Run for Unity' programme and said that the programme was observed across the country to commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

He said the birth anniversary is celebrated as Rashtriya Ekta Diwas or National Unity Day. He said the best way to celebrate the anniversary is to follow the ideas of the late leader.  He highlighted the role played by the leader in uniting the nation.

Terming youth as a symbol of unity and power, the DC stressed the need for channelizing this power in a better way for nation building.He urged upon the youth to come forward and avail the opportunities being designed by the Government from time to time.
