The Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal Flagged off the ‘Swami Vivekanand Sahitya Rath’ as part of the year long celebrations of 150th birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, the great spiritual ambassador and a distinguished philosopher at Chandigarh on 12.7.2013.

Punjab Chief Minister Mr. Parkash Singh Badal today flagged off the ‘Swami Vivekanand Sahitya Rath’ as part of the year long celebrations of 150th birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand, the great spiritual ambassador and a distinguished philosopher.Speaking on the occasion Mr. Badal said that Swami Vivekanand was a great visionary who enlightened the souls of Indian youth. He assured the Members of the organizing committee constituted for the commemoration of 150th birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekanand that the state government would extend full cooperation in observing this mega event.  The Chief Minister also released the two books namely the ‘Patriot Monk’ and ‘Swami Vivekanand Ke Sapno Ka Bharat’ written on the life, philosophy and works of Swami Vivekanand ji.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chander Shekhar Talwar, Secretary of the Committee threw light on the series of programs which have been conducted so far to propagate the philosophy of Swami Vivekanand amongst the youth. He said that the main thrust of the celebrations was to spread the message of Swami ji amongst the younger generation particularly the students of different age-groups. He said that creative and literary activities like poster making competition, slogan writing competition, reading and writing competitions would be organized at various levels. Seminars/lecturers by eminent philosophers, educationists and academicians associated with work and life of Swami Vivekanand would also be organized. Prominent among other who attended the meeting included principal secretary to chief minister Mr. SK. Sandhu,  president state unit BJP Mr. Kamal Sharma, former MP and Advocate Satyapal Jain, Vice Chancellor, Sri Guru Ravidas Ayurvedic university Dr. O P Uppadhaya and Co-Secretary of the organizing committee Mr. Vijay Singh.
