Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Dr. Jitendra Singh visited the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), in Sardar Patel Bhawan today.The Secretary, DARPG, Shri Sanjay Kothari and the Additional Secretary, DARPG, Shri Arun Jha briefed the Minister about various activities undertaken by the Department. Senior Officers and other staff of the Department were introduced to him. The Minister went around the office and interacted with the staff members. He appreciated the general upkeep of the premises of the Department and gave suggestions for its further improvement.
During the interaction, a discussion to improve the redress of public grievances ensued. The Minister suggested that workshop may be organized with the officials dealing with public grievances in the Central and State Governments and also establish a helpdesk to screen, guide and direct applicants to send their grievances to the right office/organization.Referring to Prime Minister’s promise for bringing good governance in the country, Dr.Jitendra Singh stated that the role of Department of Administrative Reforms assumes importance in this regard. Since good governance is not possible without administrative reforms, this Department will become the focal point for creating and disseminating new ideas. The Central Departments should sensitise the concerned Departments in States so that the State-level grievances are redressed at the State level itself.Dr.Singh further stated that the benefits of good governance should reach the State governments so that the life of common citizens becomes easy and comfortable.For improving the level of administration and service delivery in the country, the Minister emphasized that the entire government should work hard and in a cohesive manner.
