Indian Army today dedicated the newly constructed Girl's Toilets at Government Girls Middle School Tandar of District Kishtwar. The facility was inaugurated by the wife of the killed terrorist and Girl Students of the School to mark the celebration of International Girl Child Day, here.
The event was attended by Sarpanches, Army Officers, Teachers, ASHA workers and local girl students and women folk .Army officers and prominent persons urged the local youth to avoid any disgracing activities and participate in nation-building and women empowerment activities to stand with the true spirit of egalitarian and liberal Society.
The Army officers also educated the participants about the significance of celebrating the International Day for Girl Child every year.They spoke about the importance, power and potential of girls around the world besides throwing light on the girls’ needs and the problems they are facing and the collective efforts to meet them and fulfill them.
It is pertinent to mention here that the education and empowerment of girl children has been severely hit in this area due to one or the other reasons.But, Lack of girls’ toilets has been the main cause for prevailing school dropouts among girls in this rural area.
In this regard, the Indian Army (17RR,MARATHA LI) has come forward to construct girls' toilets in this village School to provide a safe environment and maintain good hygiene and sanitation for school girls.The initiative was very well received by the populace of the Tandar region and was appreciated by everyone.
The locals expressed their desire to improve infrastructure in future as well through the continuous and relentless efforts of the Indian Army.The construction of toilets for girls has developed a good faith and acted as a hub for broad-based interaction between Indian Army and the local populace.
