DCPU Ramban intensifies drive against child labour, begging menace

District Child Protection Unit Ramban, under the aegis of District Child Protection officer, Rahul Gupta, has launched a special drive against Child Labour in the district to curb the menace of child labour and child begging in the district.

In continuation of the drive, the enforcement team of the DCPU today  conducted a special drive against the child labor at Bus Stand Ramban and rescued two children. The two minors from outside of Jammu and Kashmir UT and were pushed by their own parents into the  begary.

 The team of DCPU Ramban  gave a stern warning to the parents of rescued children, before handing over wards to them. “If their children are found begging again, an FIR under the juvenile justice act will be registered against them. Most of the beggars are migrants and their parents do not carry any age or identification proof.

The officials of the DCPU also conducted awareness camps against child labour at different locations of district Ramban. Scores of local people   attended the camps. During the camps, LCPO Ramban Vikram Singh Raju highlighted the measure taken by the Government to eradicate child labour and child begging.

Social Worker DCPU Ramban, Muddasar Rashid, and Volunteers of Roshani Foundation (NGO) etc also attended the drives.
