The Akali Dal MP  from Anandpur Sahib and senior party leader Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra has demanded  investigation by high level committee into November 1984 anti-Sikh violence and setting up of fast track courts to give justice to the victims. The third time MP raised this issue in his maiden speech in the 15th Lok Sabha while speaking on the President’s address. He referred to the unfortunate comment made by then senior Congress leader that the earth shakes when a big tree falls. He said the November 1984 violence was a planned murder of humanity. He also pressed for the setting up of yet another panel to go into Operation Bluestar,  the army attack on the Golden Temple complex. He also emphasized on a special economic package for Punjab. He expressed the hope that the  implementation of cooperative federalism and the new model of inclusive growth would give a new direction and meaning to the development of the country. Praising the Narendra Modi government, he said the massive mandate had empowered the government to introduce revolutionary changes. It may be mentioned that Prof. Chandumajra has emerged as the giant killer who decimated Congress stalwart Ambika Soni.

He took the UPA government to task for the increasing trend towards concentration of powers at the centre with little powers having been left with the states. The states facing financial crisis were virtually blackmailed into accepting anti-people conditions for the allocations of funds. The allocations were stopped in case of states refusing to fall in line.  Even education and health sectors which otherwise fell under the jurisdiction of the states, came to be controlled by the centre. He said the states got weakened in the process leading to anarchy. He said the model of development adopted by the UPA government created huge disparities with share of 56 per cent of the population dependent upon agriculture in the GDP having been reduced to 12 per cent while that of the service sector having increased from 23 to 65 per cent. Now 10 per cent of the people owned 90 per cent of the total wealth and out of this, 70 per cent of the wealth was with just 100 families. He said Modi had his grip on the pulse of the nation and under cooperative federalism, the states would be equal stakeholders. This would be a new beginning. He said along with this model, the centre should also go in for 50 per cent allocation from the central funds to the states as against the present 32 per cent.He said there was a paradigm shift now under the new model which would go a long way in reducing the cost of farm inputs, assuring remunerative prices for the farm produce and crop insurance etc. He said the Congress would be reduced from 44 seats to just 4  in the next Lok Sabha election.
