Women College Udhampur’s NCC Cadets of 2 J&K NCC Girls Bn, Jammu stage named 'Samaritans' organised a series of events under the aegis of Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan.The events included a seminar on 'Water, water everywhere, not a drop to drink, a campus cleanliness drive on 1 October, 2022 and visit to Devika River for waste collection followed by visit to DEWS (Dhruva Eco-friendly waste disposal system) plant on 03 October 2022. 

It is Pertinent to mention here that the team 'Samaritans' has been working tirelessly under this banner for the last six months.Speaking on the occasion, Principal of the college, Prof. Monika Sharma, appreciated the continuous efforts of the cadets and the ANO of the unit for organizing such activities. 

She said that pollution caused by single-use plastic items has become a significant environmental challenge faced by all countries. “India is committed to take action to reduce pollution caused by single-use plastic waste” she said and further elaborated that the Puneet Sagar Abhiyan is one of the most important cleanliness campaigns launched by the Government of India to make the country clean and green.

Lt (Dr) Kamal Deep Kaur, ANO of the unit, also addressed the cadets and exhorted them to keep their surroundings clean and green. She also appealed to the cadets to invite and encourage more people to participate in the cleanliness drive and turn it into a national movement. A sense of responsibility has been created among the students and the surrounding masses through Puneet Sagar Abhiyaan.
