DC Anantnag Dr Basharat Qayoom chairs DLRC; directs banks to ensure hassle free lending to priority sector

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom today held a detailed DLRC meeting with officials from various banks of Anantnag, officials from Agriculture, Horiculture, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, KVIB, Industries, Handloom and Handicrafts.

Lead District Manager apprised the chair regarding the decisions taken in the last DLRC. He gave a detailed presentation regarding achievements of RSETI, FLCC, performance of banks in key areas relating to deposits, advances and priority sector lending, District Credit Plan, KCC, Govt Sponsored Schemes, stand up India and social security schemes.

Regarding achievemtns of RSETI, it was informed that 3 training programs have been held in the district in which 70 candidates received training. 90 were of the candidates who were trained were settled through self and bank finances.

The DC directed RSETI to introduce more training courses as per market demand so that the trainees can find sustainable livelihood.Under FLCC, the bank has conducted 36 camps at block levels. During these camps awareness was given to the public about various banking products, loan schemes and other joint security schemes.

The LDM apprised the chair that Financial Literacy Centre has been established in the district. The DC said that financial literacy camps must be held at Panchayat level so that through financial inclusion common man can reap benefits of various bank schemes.

Reviewing priority sector lending by banks, Rs 511 crores have been lent in favour of 14,723 beneficiaries, registering an achievement of 16% in the first quarter.The DC took strong note of the performance of the banks and directed them to ensure that targets must be met linearly in all quarters. 

He directed all banks to prepare branch level data and hold feedback meetings with stakeholders to achieve the targets.He said that every effort must be made to ensure hassle free credit flow to the priority sector. 

He said that credit flow to the priority sector is the engine for driving economic growth.The DC directed LDM to hold monthly meeting with all stakeholders.Regarding lending in case of Govt Sponsored Schemes, Dr Basharat said that unemployed youth must be encouraged to realize the self employment opportunities present to gain sustainable livelihood. 

He said that process of sanctioning cases must be expedited and any cases of delay in sanction must be inquired into.He said that engaging youth in productive endeavours is essential and banks have to realize their social responsibility in this regard. 

He said that he will personally be making random checks to ensure that there are no pendancies in sanctioning cases on unnecessary grounds.The meeting was attended by ADDC, JD Planning, CAHO, CHO, LDM, Director, RSETI, DSHO, representatives from various banks, officials from Industries and Agriculture.
