Election Department, Ramban, today organized an awareness programme here at Government Model Higher Secondary School, Banihal to sensitize the students about the Special Summary Revision 2022 and encourage eligible youth for enrolling as voters.
Sub Divisional Magistrate, Banihal, Vikar Giri was the Chief Guest, while Chief Education Officer, Dev Anand, Tehsildar, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Principal of Host School Abdul Rashid, Election Naib Tehsildar, Mohan Lal, staff of the school, and students also participated in the programme.
The students and local artists presented a colourful theme based programme to sensitize the people about the SSR through entertainment.The awareness drive was hosted to sensitize the public in general and prospective voters in particular about the Special Summary Revision under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP).
The event was held under the aegis of the District Election Officer, Ramban, Mussarat Islam.Speaking on the occasion, the SDM informed the students and other participants that a series of awareness programs are being organized by the district administration in every educational institution and college of the district to create awareness about the Special Summary Revision 2022,.
The SDM appealed to the PRIs, prominent citizens, and members of civil society to play a significant role in achieving cent percent registration of prospective voters.The CEO and other speakers including students, who took part in the debate competition, highlighted the importance of SSR, 2022, besides motivating the participants to work like a representative of the Department to encourage each and every eligible voter to register on the Electoral Roll.
The Election Department informed that in continuation of the special series two camps were held on September 24 & 25, while more camps were being held on October 1, 2, 15 & 16. “The information regarding documents required for registration as a voter has also been displayed on the hoardings and banners installed at prominent places in the district” it informed.
