The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Basharat Qayoom today reviewed the functioning of Jal Shakti Department in the district. At the outset, the DC outlined that the Jal Jeevan Mission is a flagship program of the Government. He said that while works have been tendered and allotted, the officials must ensure regular monitoring to ensure proper quality control in the constructions.

He said that the department must strictly adhere to timelines to ensure that all projects are completed without delay. Dr. Basharat reviewed the projects being taken up by Jal Shakti, Irrigation as well as Flood Control under NABARD, District CAPEX, Area Development Fund and Languishing.

Important projects were discussed including slow sand filtration plants at Watalbagh and Arigam. The officers were directed to ensure that any ROW issues should be taken up with the revenue department immediately so they can be resolved at the earliest.
