The District Election Officer (DEO) Shopian today held the screening of a film on Systematic Voter Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) at Govt. Degree College Shopian for sensitisation and awareness of young and eligible voters.The film highlighted the ways and means for the registration of the new voters through submission of various designated forms and also through the online methods.
A number of speakers who spoke on the occasion elaborated on the significance of SVEEP for the effective participation of new eligible voters by way of conducting mass awareness programmes across the district. The half an hour film also highlighted the messages of the DEO and other senior officers of the District, wherein it has been appealed to the public to come in contact with their local booth level officers for any help required in the new registration or delegations of the voters.
It also highlighted the role and responsibilities of the civil society in strengthening the democratic processes.The function was attended by the college staff and hundreds of young students who are also the eligible voters. As per the details provided by the District Election Officer Shopian, ground programmes on SVEEP shall be carried in every nook and corner of the District up to 25 September, 2022.
As per the schedule issued by the Chief Electoral Officer, J&K, the special summary revision shall start from 15 September, 2022 with the period for filing objections and claims up to 25 October, 2022.The disposal of claims and objections shall take place by 10 November, 2022 and the final draft of electoral rolls shall be published on 25 November, 2022.
