DC Baramulla flags-off Students Rally to formally kick-start Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar today flagged-off a rally of students from the DC office and formally launched the flagship campaign "Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan 2.0" in the district. 

The rally, comprising of students from different educational institutions, were holding placards and banners and traversed through different roads and lanes for sensitising masses regarding drug abuse. 

Pertinent to mention that the Abhiyan has been launched by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GoI in the most vulnerable districts of the country in terms of usage of drugs. Under the campaign, an array of activities shall be carried out to disseminate awareness among the people regarding the harmful consequences of substance use.

After flagging-off the rally, the DC outlined objectives of the campaign and said that the Abhiyan seeks to enhance the evidence based approach towards substance abuse. She added that it intends to reach out masses and spread awareness about substance abuse through various activities like seminars, workshops, community outreach programs and other similar activities.

Moreover, the DC said that our focus shall remain on youth engagement by conducting counseling sessions more especially for the vulnerable and targeted groups. She also complimented the participants and urged upon them to act as ambassadors of the campaign in their respective areas.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Zahoor Ahmad Raina, Joint Director Planning Mohammad Yousuf Rather, District Social Welfare Officer Nisar Ahmad Wani, district and sectoral officers among other concerned functionaries participated in the program.
