A delegation of Punjab Rice Shellers led by BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh called on Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Piyush Goyal in Delhi to seek redressal of problems faced by the rice shellers in Punjab.
President of the Punjab Rice Shellers Association Bharat Bhushan Bitta apprised the Union Minister with the problems following which the Union Minister announced that fortified rice would not be subjected to the tender system and would touch the open market and the entire stocks of the FCI should be made available on public domain.
While appreciating the contribution of Punjab to the central rice kitty, the Minister asked the senior FCI officials ,present at the meeting, to address the problems of the rice shellers. He also asked the officials to set up computersided laboratories so that the traders did not face problems.
Chugh lauded the farming and the trading communities in Punjab for excelleing all other states in the country and reaffirmed the Centre's commitment to stand by them.Besides Bitta the delegation included Kishan Bali, Surjit Singh joshan and others..
